Tools
It is important to have the right tools at to hand when out in the field. This starter kit avon was developed with this in mind, and includes all of the essential hand tools needed for repairing items on the field. The tools are all made of metal and feature very little plastic, which means they can withstand use. Repair Patches
If you've a hole or two in your gear, think about adding some adhesive patches to your rep kit. These patches are made of high-performance glue applied on a rugged polyurethane back that allows a tear caused by pressure to heal. These patches are available in colors or clear versions and are durable against punctures, as well as sun, moisture and extreme temperatures.
If your kit does not contain any of the above items, think about adding a bag with waterproof Aquaseal wader repair sealant. This water-tight glue will adhere to fabrics and metals to provide an unbreakable fix. It's perfect for Rep kit repairing drysuits and may be applied while in the field. Allow the sealant up to 12 hours to set before utilizing the repaired equipment.
The essential field fabric repair kit for rep kit nylon tents impregnated with silicone packs, rainwear, and more. Includes one Clean Tape repair patch and a sil-nylon swatch. Also included is a 1/4 ounce Goretex Repair Adhesive, Sealant and Brush and Sealant tube. Apply patch to clean, flat surface. There should be a minimum of 1/2 inch overlap. Remove the release paper from the patch surface and rub it with moderate finger pressure (adhesive side down).
Surface preparation is essential for a successful repair; oils on boots or shoes, sunblock or solvents like acetone may affect adhesion. To get the best results, make use of Seam Grip alone or with Cotol-240 Cure Accelerator to speed curing time to two hours.
Adhesive patches
If you're on the trail but don't have the time for complete vulcanising repairs, these adhesive patches will allow you to get back in the saddle quickly and without waiting. Simply roughen the tube with the included scraper, then apply one of the self-adhesive patches and roll on.
Clean the area thoroughly and then make use of the tube-scuffer to roughen the surface, which assists in making glue stick. Spread a thin layer of glue on the patch and cover an area at least as large as the patch. The glue should become tacky then press the patch down with a firm pressure and secure it.
This kit contains two adhesive-backed, clear Tenacious Tape pressure sensitive fabric patch for repair and a 1/4 ounce tube of Seam Grip urethane repair adhesive and sealant. It is perfect for reinforcing damaged sleep bags, rainwear and packs.
