With more and more happiness and pride being poured into our vehicles it is only natural to secure them. The Autowatch Ghost is a subtle vehicle immobiliser which connects to your vehicles CAN data network. It operates through the ECU (your car's brain).
The device, which is similar to a PIN code on a credit card, will not permit your vehicle to move unless you enter the pin code sequence in up 20 presses.
No Key Fobs or LED Indications to indicate its location
The Ghost Immobiliser is virtually invisible to anyone entering your vehicle because it does not utilize LED indicators or key fobs. The system makes use of buttons like the centre console, door or steering wheel to create an individual, custom-changeable pin code sequence that needs to be entered before the car will start. The system can be configured to require up to 20 presses of the buttons before the engine will begin, making it nearly impossible for thieves to clone your key or hack into your vehicle.
Modern car thieves are able to use professional diagnostic tools to identify which security systems are fitted to vehicles, but the Ghost does not transmit any signals like conventional security systems do. Utilizing sophisticated RF scanning, code-grabbing technology and relay attack techniques, criminals can identify what kind of security system is fitted to your vehicle. This will allow them to alter the immobiliser or alarm circuits to disable your system and escape with your vehicle.
The Ghost is unique from other immobilisers on the market because it is integrated directly into the CAN data network of your car or van and is nearly impossible to bypass. The system is also compatible with a number of modern vehicles which do not come with built in keyfob security. It also works on electric vehicles in the majority of cases and will even stop the car from entering "service valet mode".
When it is installed by one of our qualified engineers, we offer the TASSA certified guarantee that gives you the peace of mind your installation is secure and of the highest standards. TASSA is a group that improves and maintains standards in the field of automotive security. They ensure that all of their approved installers are DBS verified, fully trained and insured for Ghost installation. They will also supply you with the owner's instructions, installation certificate and an emergency card from Ghost. Your insurance premiums will be significantly reduced. This is because your vehicle will be less likely to be stolen and it will be much easier for your insurers to recuperate.
No Circuit Cuts
The Ghost is the first aftermarket immobiliser for the CAN bus that protects your vehicle in a way that is unlike anything else available. It is not linked to LED indicators or key fobs but instead communicates directly with your vehicle's CAN system. This enables it to block the ECU from starting and stop the engine from running until the PIN is first entered via the dash or steering wheel buttons (brand dependant). This means it is impossible for criminals to hack into the system using relay attacks or other methods and can't simply be disabled with a few button presses as with some older systems.
The system has the Service and Valet mode that is activated when the vehicle is in garage for servicing, or valet parking. The vehicle can be started temporarily while it is being repaired without having to enter the pin code or hand over keys. The system will automatically shut down once you have returned the vehicle.
This makes the Ghost a much more secure solution for classic, sports or luxury automobiles that require battery isolation when parked up for extended periods of time. It is also undetected by modern scans using RF and code-grabbing technology, making it extremely difficult for thieves to bypass or hack.

No RF Scanning
Many thieves use sophisticated tools to copy vehicle keys and steal cars. These systems can be located on the internet and require no knowledge to operate. These cloning devices do not make use of RF scanning to identify the Ghost immobiliser.
Instead, the system uses buttons in your car to generate an unique pin code push. This is done using the existing buttons on your steering wheel and door panels as well as the center console. It's also a switchable number and not a PIN like a remote fob, which makes it very difficult to hack.
The Autowatch Ghost is extremely secure and easy to use. It doesn't require the use of a smartphone, but it can be used using a small waterproof tag or an Apple or Android App (sold separately). You can switch to service mode with your mobile device and drive away. Then you can return the vehicle to valet-mode and turn off your smartphone. This is ideal for classic cars and prestige vehicles that are frequently taken to garages owned by dealers.
These CANBUS immobilisers can be linked to other security devices like alarms and trackers (Brand dependant). This allows the user to choose whether to put their alarm or tracker over the imobilisers CAN bus. This is particularly beneficial if you have a Thatcham-approved Tracker, since the tracker will be armed before Ghost is activated.
The CANBUS immobilisers block the codes that were sent by the remote keys used in the initial setup to the ECUs and BCM controllers. This blocks them from activating the engine or starting the car. These systems can be used to add an extra layer of security for cars equipped with remote controls that are factory installed.
The Autowatch Ghost will provide you with greater security for your BMW. It is almost impossible to spot because it is concealed in the wiring. It does not depend on any LED indicators or key-fobs which can also prevent the possibility of a criminal seeing its presence in your car.
There are no electronic devices to be Detected
As a reputable Thatcham installer we install a new, revolutionary product from Autowatch called the Ghost Immobiliser. It effectively stops Keyless Entry theft or cloning that is on the rise in modern vehicles. It is a covert system that doesn't use LED indicators or key fobs. It makes use of the factory buttons on your car to create a pin code push sequence that is unique to you and which is required before your vehicle is able to start or move. If this sequence is not correctly entered, the car will not begin or move at all. Many insurance companies now require this device to be installed as standard, and it can often result in a reduction of monthly premiums.
It is not required to cut any wires to connect it, as it connects to the CAN bus, and functions through the ECU. The device is not able to be detected with the diagnostic tools that high-tech thieves use, and there isn't a way to detect the distinctive clicking sound of a conventional relay as on a traditional security device. Ghost Immobilisers can be set to a service mode, which allows your vehicle to start without the PIN code. This is helpful when transporting it to garages or a valet parking service. The PIN code can be changed to provide additional security at anytime.
Ghost II Ghost II is TASSA-approved, which means it can only be purchased from installers who are fully certified. This gives you a high degree of protection and also means that the Engineer who installs it is thoroughly DBS verified as well as trained and insured.
While it's not a substitute for an alarm system, we always recommend that you combine it with other physical barriers, such as crook locks and wheel clamps, and if possible a hidden GPS tracker like Meta Trak VTS to provide the highest level of protection available. This is particularly crucial if you leave your keys in the ignition when it is not actually being driven as there are a variety of ways to fool the driver into thinking they are still in the vehicle, and allow theft to occur.
